Homes for Sale in Coolidge Corner, Brookline, MA

Coolidge Corner is a major business center in the northern portion of Brookline, MA. The district is centered on the intersection of Beacon Street and Harvard Street, surrounded by well-developed commercial establishments and local businesses. The lovely Coolidge Corner neighborhood got its name from the Coolidge and Brother general store that started its operations in the 1850s at the intersection near a new building called Pierce building. In the early part of the 19th Century, the Coolidge Corner was nothing but a vast landscape filled with hills, farms, marshes, woodlands, and orchards. Everything changed in the 1820s when a road and a water dam were built in the area. Because of the new infrastructures, traveling between Brookline and Boston became quicker. As a result, a few wealthy Boston marketers decided to build several summer homes in Brookline. Brookline’s boundary got extended to the Charles River on the north and Kenmore Square towards the east. From then on, more and more houses were built in the district until the area became a well-developed bedroom community for Boston.
