Homes for Sale in Oak Hill, Newton, MA
The tranquil post-World War II suburban neighborhood of Oak Hill Park is located in the southernmost part of Newton, Massachusetts. The neighborhood is bounded by Dedham Street to the east, Charles River to the west, Mt Ida College to the north, and the Boston City Limits to the south. Oak Hill Park is one of the seven hills or principal elevations amongst the 13 Newton Villages. It has been called Oak Hill since the 1600s, when the first European settlers moved into the area.
In the 1940s, Oak Hill Park used to be a largely rural community home to several large farms and estates. Development of the area coincided with housing expansion in several areas of Newton after WWII. Most of the streets in the new planned neighborhood were named after veterans who died in the war. Undeveloped public land was used to build affordable housing for returning veterans in 1948. This includes the 128 acres of land owned by the old Estes and the Wiswall farms, plus a deserted gravel pit. On May 15, 1948, the city started building the 315 homes that were sold to returning GI’s and their families.
Stunning houses with Colonial and Contemporary styles line this professionally-planned community. Oak Hill Park’s properties are priced at $1,490,000 to $4,400,000. It boasts exquisitely styled 4 to 5 bedrooms and 3 to 8 bathrooms. These homes come with 2,880 square feet to 6,904 square feet of living space. Houses come with luxurious home features such as an open floor plan, elevated ceilings, oversized windows, and custom crown molding.
Mid-Rise Condominiums started to replace many of the original houses in Oak Hill Park. These condominium units have a price tag ranging from $695,899 to $800,000. The impeccably designed units usually have 2 well-maintained bedrooms and 2 airy bathrooms with 1,449 square feet to 1,735 square feet of living space. Some units feature spectacular distant views, generous closet space, a large storage room, and private balconies. Luxury condominiums have amenities that the residents can enjoy, including a 24-hour concierge, gym, heated pool, and club room.
