Waban or Wabanoki is correctly spelled as Wauban or, more probably, Waughban. It means “east” in the Indian language. The village name was coined after the Chief of the Nonantum Indian tribe, Waban. The chief was the first Indian in the region who converted to Christianity in 1646. The area where Waban village stands used to be his favored hunting ground. William Chamberlain Strong used to live on Nonantum Hill with Waban as the Indian Chief. He named the station location Waban upon seeing its village potential while vigorously securing the Boston and Albany Railroad’s right-of-way.

Train stations, shopping, restaurants, and recreations are within walking distance, if not a few minutes away from the community.
What's Not To Love
The turnover rate of homes is not high, which means it will be quite difficult to find a home that perfectly matches all your criteria. If you do get a chance to buy a home here, it's best to make a good offer fast as you'll most likely be competing with other buyers.
